Cheap Monday

— Cheap Monday was born in the spring 2004, March, when the Mens Cheap Monday tight jeans with their synonymous skull logo first emerged on the market. Yet, to tell the Cheapmonday story in full, you need to go back to November 2000 when Adam, Örjan and another two of their friends opened a thrift store in Stockholm, Sweden. They named the store Weekend, as it was only open on Saturdays and Sundays. Despite its remote location in a Stockholm suburb, the store was an huge success and came the decision to launch a larger store in central Stockholm. The shop was designed as a concept store, and now open 7 day's a week, hence the new name Weekday!

From the outset they stocked exclusive designer denim brands, high-fashion garments mixed with vintage clothing — an original offering that appealed to the young hip Stockholmers. A lot of the jeans sold in the shop were high-end and Örjan knew there was a market for cheaper, but still high quality fashionable denim. The first style men's jeans style was born, the Cheap Monday Tight, at this stage it was made exclusively as an in-store label. A very tight, fitted stretch, unwashed denim jeans for a disgustingly cheap price, was obviously an instant hit and the first batch of 800 pairs sold out in not much over a couple of weeks.

The Cheap Monday skull logo was designed by their friends Kanrl and Björn who had also developed the imagery for the shop. By January 2005, Cheap Monday jeans was evolved into full scale collection and the distribution was widened to selected stores in Sweden and internationally. The Cheap Monday clothing ideal is still to offer customers fashion at a fair price. The intention was to align Cheap Monday Denim alongside more expensive premium brands, in the best stores where we shop ourselves.
