Berets

Womens Berets

A Beret is a soft round cap, usually a wool felt beret, with a flat crown, which is worn by both men and women and usually associated with France although it is also the traditional headgear of Northern Spain. The Beret Hat was also common in other surrounding countries, especially the Low Countries, with precursors extending as far back as the Middle Ages, but the Womens Beret origins remain unknown.

Berets come in many different forms, recently Beret Hats have been made from knitted yarns in the form of the Beret Beanie Hat. Especially popular among Ladies the Womens Beret Beanie has a slouchy look but unlike an oversized beanie hat they are still usually round on top and comes in a variety of crochet knits from Popcorn knit Berets to Bobble stick Berets.

The Ladies Beret Cap fits snugly around the head, and can be "shaped" in a variety of ways – it is commonly pushed to one side in America and Europe. Local custom usually prescribes what form the shape will be; many older European men square it firmly on the head, with the excess jutting forward.
